Transitional Education Orientation & Classes for Winter Term 2019, Nov. 28

SWOCC release – Coos Bay, OR – Did you or someone you know make a New Year’s Resolution to go back to school or get a better job? Let Southwestern help! The Transitional Education Department, a college and career preparation program at Southwestern Oregon Community College, will be offering General Education Diploma (GED®) exam preparation, college & career preparation, Adult Basic Skills (ABS), and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses this term. Students can build a pipeline to enter college, training programs, and jobs in high-demand career areas. The Transitional Education program is for students and community members who are ready to make a positive change in their lives! We provide information, skills, and resources to help participants earn their GED® credential, enhance job skills, and brush up on reading, writing, and math skills. We prepare students for success in their families and communities, the workforce, and future education programs. We have flexible scheduling with both day and evening classes and provide large group, small group, and individualized instruction. Our caring, supportive instructors will help you achieve your goals. ABE/GED, Monday – Thursday 8:00am-11:00am Or 12:00-3:00pm; Tuesday – Thursday 5:00-7:00pm. ESL, Monday – Thursday; 9:00am-12:00pm; Monday – Wednesday 6:00-8:00pm. Classes run every term, and cost $57, which includes unlimited access to the Student Recreation Center for the term. Scholarships are available! Orientation is scheduled for January 7, 2019 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in Tioga Hall, 3rd floor, on the Coos Bay Campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. All new students can call 541-888-1593 or drop in to sign up for orientation for the term. Lunch will be provided for all enrolled students. We also offer GED® classes in Brookings and Port Orford.
