Mother/Daughter Dispute, Jan. 15

Hwy. 42S, CCSO release – On January 12, 2019, at about 6:27 PM, Officers from the Bandon Police Department responded to Southern Coos Hospital in response to a report of a patient who reported an assault, and who had a warrant for their arrest. Bandon Police arrested 22 year old Lila McCovey for an active warrant alleging Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. It was determined Lila McCovey had possibly been the victim of an assault which had occurred in the county. A Deputy from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to the jail and contacted Lila McCovey. McCovey reported she had been hit in the left arm with a four foot construction level, which she had believed had broken her arm. While the arm was not broken, it had sustained severe bruising and required a sling. McCovey told the Deputy her mother, 57 year old Larae Withrow had hit her on the arm and on the back with the level. There was evidence to support the allegation. The Deputy responded to 90740 Hwy 42S where contact was made with Withrow. Withrow admitted to hitting her daughter, McCovey with the level. Withrow was arrested for Assault II Domestic and Unlawful Use of a Weapon and transported to the Coos County Jail.
