Credit Card Skimmer Follow Up, Feb. 6

The Lincoln City Police are continuing their investigation into the placing of a “credit card skimmer” on a local ATM and area asking for the public’s help in identifying a possible witness that may have information regarding the incident. Based on the investigation it appears that on 01/08/2019 a male placed a “credit card skimmer” device on the ATM at the Lincoln City branch of TLC-Fibre Federal Credit Union. A short time later another male is seen on video at the ATM before walking away. On the morning of 1-10-2019 the suspect male is seen on video at the ATM and the credit card skimmer is removed from the machine. The Lincoln City Police Department has been provided with screenshots of the second male who may have witnessed the suspect placing the skimmer on the machine or the suspect leaving the area and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this possible witness. A photograph of this person is attached with this release. The Lincoln City Police encourage everyone to check the ATM machine prior to inserting their credit /debit card into the card receiver slot. They should ensure a skimmer device is not attached to the machine by inspecting the credit/debit card receiver slot on the ATM for any signs of tampering or loose equipment. It is also recommended that you pull on the receiver slot to make sure it is securely attached. If you discover a skimming device on an ATM, you should refrain from handling it and call your local law enforcement agency to report the incident. Anyone with information about this case should contact the Lincoln City Police Department at 541-994-3636 and ask for the investigating officer, Sr. Officer Torin Liden.
