North Bend’s track & field teams swept the 111th Annual Coos Co. Track Meet on Prefontaine Track at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay Tuesday. The Bulldog boys won with 213-points, while the host Pirates were second with 175. Bandon took third with 51, followed by Coquille with 25, Powers 21 and Myrtle Pt. 14. North Bend’s girls won with 212-points, followed by Marshfield with 185, Coquille 46, Bandon 40 and Myrtle Pt. 16. Individually, North Bend’s Jonathan Chilcote took both the 100 (11.14) & 200 (22.91), while the Bulldogs’ Chelsea Howard & Marshfield’s Ravyn Miranda split the sprints. Howard won the 100 (13.08) & Miranda grabbed the 200 (27.61). The two would battle on one other front, the Long Jump. Howard, the junior, won at 17-04.25, while Miranda, the senior, was second at 16-04.25. Howard also won the Triple Jump at 35-10. MHS senior Jazmin Chavez was a double winner for the Pirates in taking both the 400 (1:02) & 800 (2:25.90), while classmate Maddie Arzie took the Shot Put (33-10.50) & Discus (103-10). North Bend senior Ty Hampton won both the Discus (168-01) & Javelin (182-04). The Bulldogs also got wins out of senior Teron Catanzaro in the Long Jump (20-09), and Triple Jump (42-04.75). Marshfield is at the Marist Track Classic Saturday in Eugene. North Bend goes to the Titan Track Classic at West Salem Friday.
