OCCI hosts High School Culinary Competition, April 12

SWOCC release – Coos Bay, OR – Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Oregon Coast Culinary Institute (OCCI) will host The Oregon Coast Invitational on April 13, 2019. This is a competition for high school students only. There will be two competitions: Culinary & Baking:  Culinary: Chicken Pot Pie, an individual interpretation; Baking: Lemon Meringue Pie, an individual interpretation. The competition begins on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 7:00 am with staggered starting times to allow for students to compete in both competitions if they desire. Awards to winning individual competitors in the Culinary and the Baking competitions are: 1st place finishers will receive a $4,000 scholarship to OCCI; 2nd place finishers will receive a $3,000 scholarship to OCCI; 3rd place finishers will receive a $2,000 scholarship to OCCI. In addition to these scholarship winners, every student participating will receive a $250 scholarship to attend OCCI. Meals included will be Friday night dinner, a continental breakfast Saturday morning, and an Awards Banquet luncheon. The awards ceremony and lunch will begin at approximately 1:30 pm Saturday.
