A report on preparations for the 2014 wildfire season will top the agenda when the Oregon Board of Forestry meets in Salem on Wednesday, June 4 in Salem. Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) fire managers will brief the board on actions underway to prepare for the wildfire season. They will also provide a long-range weather forecast that points to the potential for above-average fire activity. ODF, Oregon’s largest fire department, protects about 16 million acres from fire–an asset valued at about $60 billion. The board meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at Oregon Department of Forestry headquarters, Administration Building C, in the Tillamook Room, 2600 State St., in Salem. A general public comment period is scheduled near the start of the meeting. Public comment on specific agenda items will be received as the board takes them up.
