Boat Basin Rd. & Cape Arago Hwy. CCSO release – On April 25, 2019, at about 12:21 PM, a Deputy spotted 27 year old Ian Geer of Myrtle Point, walking on Cape Arago Highway in the Charleston area. Geer is familiar to law enforcement and has had several contacts with them. Recently, Geer has fled arrest when several different agencies had attempted to arrest him. A records check revealed Geer still had an outstanding felony warrant for Parole Violation. When the Deputy attempted to contact Geer, he fled into the brush. The Deputy continued checking the area and located Geer near the old Breakfast Barn close to the intersection of Cape Arago Highway and Boat Basin Road. The Deputy attempted to contact Geer with his partner, K9 Raven. The Deputy told Geer he was under arrest and Geer began to run across a small field towards the wooded area. The Deputy informed Geer to stop or he would release the K9. Geer continued a few more feet into the brush. Geer stopped, turned around, and yelled, “I give up! Don’t send the dog!” The Deputy was able to contain Geer until other deputies arrived on scene and placed him into custody. This marks K9 Raven’s 2nd successful capture. Geer was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and lodged with no bail.
