Central Coast Pursuit, May 3

Lincoln City Police arrested 33 year-old Shannon Uretta Thomas of Lincoln City after she led them on a short vehicle and foot pursuit. On Thursday, May 2nd, 2019 at about 2:56 AM, Lincoln City Police officers attempted to stop a black Honda sedan in the area of Hwy 101 near NW 21st Street for expired registration. As officers pulled in behind the Honda and activated their emergency lights, the driver accelerated away south bound on HWY 101 before turning west onto NW 15th Street. The officers began pursuing Honda while requesting back-up officers to respond. The Honda was pursued a short distance through the area side streets until it turned into a dead end parking lot off of NW 16th Street. The female driver and only occupant of the Honda, stopped the vehicle, jumped out and fled northbound on foot behind Maxwell’s Restaurant & Lounge. The officers chased after the female who continued running northbound through the city public parking lot between NW 17th Street and NW 18th Street. The officers caught up with the female as she reached NW 18th Street where she was taken into custody at Taser point. The Taser was not deployed on the female. Upon taking the female into custody, she was identified as Shannon Uretta Thomas. She was escorted back to the stop location and secured in a patrol vehicle. During the scene investigation it was determined that Thomas’s Oregon driver’s license was Misdemeanor suspended and she did not have any insurance on the vehicle. Thomas was transported back to the Lincoln City Police Department and placed into a holding cell while paperwork was being completed. The Honda was towed from the scene. Shannon Thomas was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail and lodged there on the charges of Driving While Suspended – Misdemeanor, Felony Eluding, and Misdemeanor Eluding. She was also issued a citation for Driving While Uninsured. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
