Distracted Driving Enforcement Central Coast, May 16

Using grant funds provided by the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Impact, the Lincoln City Police Department conducted three separate Distracted Driving enforcement operations during April 2019. These enforcement operations where conducted in conjunction with the month long National Distracted Driving Awareness campaign. During the three successful operations, which occurred on April 11th, April 15th and April 27th, numerous drivers who were unlawfully using their cell phones or other electronic devices while operating their vehicles on the roadways where stopped. The results from those traffic stops include 22 citations and 8 warnings being issued for Distracted Driving, 1 citation was issued for Driving While Suspended and 1 citation and 11 warnings were issued for other traffic violation(s). The members of the Lincoln City Police Department are dedicated to the safety of our community members and visitors and the grant funds for these enforcement operations are a valuable asset to help promote the safety of those who travel on our roadways.
