Probation Violation
Shinglehouse Slough & Libby Dr., CCSO release – On 6/23/19 at approximately 10:11 AM, Deputies were dispatched to a shirtless Disorderly male subject, doing jumping jacks in the roadway on Libby Lane near Shinglehouse Rd. Coos Bay, OR. Deputies arrived and contacted a male subject matching the description given. The male subject was identified as 49 year old Danny J. Thomas. Thomas consented to a search of his person and drug paraphernalia was found. This along with Thomas’s erratic behavior prompted Deputies to contact his Probation Officer, who placed a detainer on Thomas. Thomas was transported to Coos County Jail where he was lodged.
DUII
Kentuck Way, CCSO release – On Saturday, June, 22, 2019 approximately 2:02 Am, Coos County Deputy Sheriff’s responded to Kentuck Way Ln, for a report of a possible drunk driver who crashed into a barn and fence. Upon arrival Deputies discovered the driver of a Toyota Tacoma to be 25 year old Whitney Smith. Whitney consented to a series of field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of intoxicates. During the investigation Whitney could not articulate how she got the vehicle as it was not hers. After several failed attempts to contact the registered owner of the vehicle, the vehicle was secured at the residence. Whitney was transported to the Coos County Jail where she provided a breath sample of .15% blood alcohol. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle is .08%. Whitney was booked and lodged. The owner of the Toyota called the following morning to report it as stolen. Whitney will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Assault
Sitkum Rd., CCSO release – On June 21, 2019, at approximately 10:01 AM, A Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy was notified of a man wishing to report an assault that occurred the night before on Sitkum Lane in Myrtle Point. It was reported that the man’s nose may have been broken due to the assault, and was being reported from the Coquille Valley Hospital. When the Deputy arrived at Coquille Valley Hospital, he discovered the victim lying in a hospital bed with swollen shut, purple eyes. The victim also had an abrasion on his nose and dried blood on his lips. When questioned, the victim did not know his assailant. The victim was able to provide the Deputy with information leading to the identity of his attacker. The victim signed a medical release allowing his emergency room medical records to be released to the Deputy for investigation purposes. After an investigation, it was determined 36 year old Dominic R. Dutton had attacked the victim without justification. After striking the victim and knocking him to the ground, Dominic straddled the victim and continued to strike him in the face multiple times. Dominic’s attack caused the victim to suffer a facial fracture. Subsequently, Dominic R. Dutton, was arrested for assault in the second degree and transported to the Coos County Jail without further incident.
Warrant Service
Cape Arago Hwy., CCSO release – On Saturday, June, 22, 2019 approximately 10:30 pm, A Coos County Sheriff Deputy was actively patrolling Cape Arago Hwy. The Deputy observed 41 year old Robert Peters of Coos Bay walking near Roosevelt Rd. The Deputy discovered Robert had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Marion County. Robert was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant and transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and lodged.
