Unlawful Use of a Weapon, July 9

Cape Arago Hwy., CCSO release – On July 4, 2019, at approximately 10:22 PM, A Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy was notified of an intoxicated man shooting a gun from his trailer door toward other occupied trailers at 91904 Cape Arago Highway in Coos Bay. It was reported the man was firing his weapon multiple times. When the Deputy arrived at the trailer park, the Deputy could see the trailer door partially open with lights on inside. The Deputy knocked on the door and announced his presence and informed the individual inside he was a Sheriff’s Deputy. When the Deputy did not hear a response, the Deputy looked into the trailer through the partially opened door and observed the man hiding his rifle under a pillow on the bed and gathering up ammunition and placing it into a bedside drawer. When the man finally came to the door, he identified himself as 54-year-old Kris Henriksen of Coos Bay, Oregon. The Deputy asked Kris if he had been firing this weapon in the direction of occupied trailer in park. Kris admitted to discharging his weapon in this manner but failed to see the safety risks with doing so. Subsequently, Kris Henriksen, was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and transported to the Coos County Jail without further incident. Upon arrival at the Coos County Jail, Kris was given a chance to measure his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) in order to be release from the jail on his own cognizance. Kris Henriksen blew a 0.293% BAC at 11:48 PM. Kris Henriksen was subsequently held until he reached the legal limit of below 0.08% BAC and no signs of impairment.
