42nd Annual Oregon Athletic Coaches Association Summer All Star Basketball Series, June 13

The 42nd Annual OACA All Star Series, for 2014 senior boys from 2A-3A-4A-5A-6A Oregon high schools, will be held this Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th.  Friday’s games will be hosted by Northwest Christian University at the Morse Events Center in Eugene, while Saturday’s games will be hosted by Sprague High School in Salem.  The format for the Series consists of a Regional Tournament for the 2A-3A-4A schools and the historical State vs. Metro match up for the 5A-6A schools.  The Regional tournament divides the 2A-3A-4A schools into geographical squads (North-South-East-West) based upon league affiliation. Friday evening the East squad will take on the South team @ 5:00, followed by the North vs. West game @ 6:30. On Saturday the losing teams from Friday will play @ 4:00 in the 3rd place game, while the Friday winners play for the Regional Championship @ 5:30. Immediately after the Championship game the Regional All-Tournament team will be announced.  The State vs. Metro format follows a 42 year tradition when the State team hosts the Metro Friday @ 8:30 am. Saturday the two teams again take the court for state bragging rights @ 7:15. After the Saturday game the “Star of Stars” (MVP) awards will announced.  Players for the Series are nominated by coaches around the state based upon the players over all abilities, all league and all state selections. The teams are then selected and organized by a committee of coaches. Coaches for the Series are nominated by their peers and selected based upon their state finishes and league awards.  Admission for the event is $5 for adults, $4 for high school students with ID, $2 for middle school students & Seniors.  Souvenir T shirts ($17 & $20), souvenir programs ($5), concessions, and “Throwback Gear” will be available both days.  South Team includes:  Treven Anspach/Sutherlin, Evan Henson/Bandon, Garrett Litterell/Gold Beach, Logan Shea/Bandon, Cooper Stateler/Myrtle Point, Coach Nice/Bandon.
