UPDATE 10/01/2019 9:20 PM – ROSEBURG, Ore. – The man who was the subject of the earlier search on Roberts Creek Road is now in custody. Shortly before 9 pm, Cordz unsuspectingly flagged down an Oregon State Police Trooper. The Trooper recognized the man as Cordz and took him into custody without further incident. Cordz will be lodged at the Douglas County Jail on several charges brought forward by the Winston Police Department. ORIGINAL RELEASE 10/01/2019 5:10 PM – JOINT PRESS RELEASE FROM DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND WINSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT – ROSEBURG, Ore. – A Roseburg man who ran from law enforcement officers this afternoon is wanted by Winston Police Department. 32 year-old Michael Andrew Cordz is wanted in connection to the burglary of his ex-girlfriend’s residence. Cordz has been making threats toward the female and is believed to be armed. On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 10:55 am, deputies were called to a suspicious vehicle in the 5500-block of Roberts Creek Road. Deputies, along with officers from Winston Police Department, responded to the area and determined the vehicle belonged to Cordz. Cordz was in the vehicle and fled on foot from officers. Deputies activated the reverse 9-1-1 system to notify area residents, who were asked to shelter in place and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Despite an extensive search of the area by multiple law enforcement officers, Cordz was unable to be found. Deputies did locate several firearms near Cordz vehicle which were loaded. “We want the public to be aware of this situation and report any suspicious activity immediately. If Mr. Cordz is seen, do not approach him, but call 9-1-1. Cordz is considered armed and dangerous,” said Winston Police Department Chief Brandon Sarti. Cordz is described as a white male adult who is 6’00” 255 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. He has several tattoos which include a rose and microphones on his chest, a spiderweb on his elbow. Law enforcement agencies involved in the search for Cordz today included Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Winston Police Department and Oregon State Police.
