Pedestrian Fatal near JC, Oct. 30

The driver of the Mercury Cougar is identified as Robbin WILSON, age 56, from Monroe. The pedestrian is identified as Megan THORNTON, age 34, unknown city of residence. Previous Release: Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Friday evening’s fatal pedestrian crash on Highway 99W near Junction City.  On Friday October 25th at about 10:43 PM, OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian crash on Highway 99W near Milepost 111. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Mercury Cougar, operated by an adult female, was traveling northbound when it struck an adult female pedestrian. The female pedestrian sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The female pedestrian has yet to be identified by investigators. The driver of the Mercury Cougar was not injured and is cooperating with investigators. Highway 99W was partially closed for about 4 hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by Junction City PD, Lane Fire Authority and ODOT. Names are being withheld pending identification of the deceased female pedestrian and next of kin notification. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when available.
