Both of Marshfield’s basketball teams and the North Bend boys won opening games at the 2019 Les Schwab Tires & First Community Credit Union South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament Thursday in Coos Bay. The three local prep teams advance to the championship semi-final round this afternoon and evening. Championships will be played on Saturday at MHS beginning at 4 p.m. for the girls and 5:45 p.m. for the boys. Girls first round: Philomath 50, No. Valley 23; North Bend 34, Junction City 38; Astoria 60, Crook Co. 13; Marshfield 39, Sisters 35. Boys first round: Philomath 59, No. Valley 42; Junction City 34, North Bend 43; Crook Co. 50, LaSalle Catholic 40; Marshfield 59, Sisters 38. Girls games today: 10:15 a.m. – No. Valley & North Bend; 1:45 p.m. – Crook Co. & Sisters; 5:15 p.m. -Philomath & Sisters; 8:45 p.m. – Astoria & Marshfield. Boys games today: 8:30 a.m. – No. Valley & Junction City; Noon – La Salle Catholic & Sisters; 3:30 p.m. – Philomath & North Bend; 7 p.m. – Crook Co. & Marshfield. All of the games are at Marshfield High School today.
