Marshfield’s boys won their 4A District 4 basketball opener at Junction City Friday night. The Pirates beat the Tigers 59-52 to move into a tie for first place with Marist Catholic and Siuslaw. Marist Catholic beat visiting Elmira 51-29 and Siuslaw squeaked by Cottage Grove on the road 56-54. Next Tuesday, Cottage Grove (0-1, 4-11) visits Marshfield (1-0, 9-4), Marist Catholic (1-0, 11-3) goes to Siuslaw (1-0, 7-8) and Junction City (0-1, 9-7) plays at Elmira (0-1, 4-10).
