Marshfield’s boys and girls got a split in 4A District 4 basketball at Cottage Grove Friday night. The Lady Pirates lost 48-21 to the first-place Lions (7-0, 16-5) in the first game of the prep doubleheader. Marshfield (2-5, 7-14) hosts Siuslaw Tuesday night, 5:45 p.m. in Coos Bay. The Pirate boys won 57-47 to snap a three-game losing streak. Marshfield (4-3, 13-7) is in third-place one game back of Junction City (5-2, 14-8). Marist Catholic (7-0, 17-3) is in first-place with three games remaining in the regular season. Marshfield’s boys also host Siuslaw Tuesday, 7:15 p.m.

Crater swept through the Bay Area Friday night and bagged a couple of 5A Midwestern League basketball wins over North Bend. The Lady Bulldogs (1-8, 4-13) lost 42-26, and the boys (0-9, 2-14) fell 72-48. North Bend hosts Willamette on Tuesday, 5:15 p.m., girl’s game, and 6:45 p.m. boy’s game.
