Quakes, Feb. 24

A whole lot of shaking going on within the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the South Oregon Coast. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.0-magnitude quake was recorded west to northwest of Port Orford early Saturday morning Feb. 22. Two other quakes occurred at the southern end of the two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast. One was a 2.9-magnitude quake west of Petrolia, CA, and the other was a 2.5-magnitude southwest of Ferndale, CA, both near Cape Mendocino in Northern California. Another quake, 4.3-magnitude was also recorded at the southern junction on Saturday, Feb. 22, west of Petrolia, CA.
