COVID-19, March 5

Oregon has three confirmed or presumed cases of the COVID-19 virus, according to state health officials. The State will receive $500,000 in federal funds as part of the $25 million allotment from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to combat the virus. Oregon’s governor says the State expects to spend $7 million to $10 million a month if the epidemic spreads. The federal money is earmarked for monitoring travelers, data management, lab equipment, supplies, staffing and surge staffing, shipping and infection control. There are more than 150 cases nationwide of the COVID-19 virus.
