North Coast drowning, July 25

A 53-year old Calgary, Alberta man drowned on the North Oregon Coast Tuesday, July 22 while swimming in the Pacific Ocean at Seaside.  Gerry Brett reportedly went underwater off the beach near Third Avenue about 5:25 p.m.  Seven-minutes later, he was located, unconscious, in the water, about thee-blocks south of where he was last seen.  Brett was transported to a local hospital where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.  Just before that call, Seaside Fire & Rescue had another beach rescue emergency underway near Avenue U.  A 22-year old male was reportedly struggling in the ocean at 5:23 p.m.  He was safely brought to shore but declined medical care.
