Scottsburg Bridge, April 20

A short section of an access road at the north end of the Scottsburg Bridge in western Douglas Co. will be closed for two-years as of Monday, April 20. The Oregon Dept. of Transportation is replacing the bridge over the Umpqua River about 17-miles east of Reedsport on Hwy. 38. Closed is a short section of Scottsburg West Road. Residents on the road further west will now have to drive under the steel bridge to reach Main St. in Scottsburg and to gain access to Hwy. 38. Hamilton Construction of Springfield is the contractor for the $39.5 million project. Construction of the new bridge is expected to begin later this year and completed by the Summer of 2022.
