Escaped Debris Burn Causes Fire Near Reedsport, April 23

The Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) warns the public that conditions are drier than normal. CFPA responded to a fire Sunday afternoon three miles northeast of Reedsport in the Otter Creek area. Firefighters from CFPA and Gardner RFD were able to stop the fire at 0.7 acres, the cause of the fire was an escaped debris burn.
CFPA reminds residents to avoid debris burning as much as possible at this time. If residents are going to burn follow these guidelines: • Be in attendance at all times while burning. • Have water and tools immediately available. • Don’t burn in windy conditions. • Have a safe clearing around burn piles.
