Shore Acres Holiday Lights Cancelled, May 28

Cancelation of Holiday Lights at Shore Acres 2020 – Friends of Shore Acres, Inc. and the Sunset Management Unit of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) announce that the 34th annual Holiday Lights at Shore Acres is canceled for the 2020 season due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and its potential risk to the health and safety of volunteers, visitors, and park staff. Preparation for the event takes many hours of work that would normally start now and last all the way up to the event, and the uncertainty about health conditions between now and November led to this hard decision. Our traditional 50-60 thousand visitors represent local, state, national and international communities and increases the potential for spreading COVID-19 among our most vulnerable populations, many of whom volunteer and host this event. This decision is a difficult one recognizing the value the Holiday Lights has to the Bay Area. It is disappointing to all of us but the event cannot safely be held this year under the Covid-19 environment.
