Travelers should expect delays up to 20 minutes east of Springfield beginning Monday, June 8 – Travelers should expect delays up to 20 minutes on OR 126 McKenzie Highway as trees are removed near the road and a lane is closed in the work zone. Work begins on Monday, June 8 and will last at least a week east of Springfield in the Thurston Hills area, between mileposts 8 and 10. Crews plan to work 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Travelers should watch for flaggers and crews in the area. Trees are removed to enhance safety, as some trees can become a danger to travelers. The Oregon Department of Transportation proactively identifies and removes trees that are growing too close to the road, have died, or may be vulnerable to wind. Where traffic is routed through or around a work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.
