Pier 1 Imports will close stores in Bend, Eugene, Gresham, Happy Valley, Hillsboro, Medford, Salem, Tigard, Vancouver, and Wilsonville once they can reopen to liquidate following the COVID-19 quarantine. The Pheasant Bar and Grill in Hermiston reopened after being closed due to COVID-19. Only 10 of its 22 employees plan to return to work. Sweet Basil’s Café in Cannon Beach will close permanently due to COVID-19. Woody’s Tacos will open a location in downtown Vancouver. Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurant will open in Roseburg this fall. It will employ between 40 and 50 people. Lane Transit District in Eugene will further reduce staff by 38 workers through layoffs, retirements, and not filling open positions due to COVID-19. Some bus operators, maintenance staff, and others will have their positions eliminated.
