On Saturday, July 18, 2020 at approximately 6:45 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 22E near milepost 53. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2003 Ford F-250 pickup (towing a boat), operated by Robert Smith (61) of Salem, was eastbound when it went off the roadway and struck a tree. Smith sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
