CCSO release – On July 23, 2020 at approximately 2:00 P.M. Deputy Levi Noel from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the end of Crown Point Road. Upon arrival Deputy Noel identified the single occupant of the vehicle was having a serious medical issue. Deputy Noel attempted to render aid to the man and was subsequently assaulted, due to the medically altered mental state of the man inside the vehicle. The man locked himself inside the vehicle at this time and refused any further interaction with first responders. Officer Matthew Parrish from Coquille Tribal Police Department, members from Charleston Fire Department and Bay Cities Ambulance also responded to the scene for assistance. As a result of fast thinking by these first responders the man (name intentionally withheld) was successfully removed from the vehicle and given necessary medical attention, likely saving his life. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the concerned citizen who called in the suspicious vehicle, and all of the first responders who assisted in saving this gentleman’s life.
