Lynching in America by Taylor Stewart, Aug. 26

Coos Bay Public Library is proud to host Lynching in America, a presentation by Taylor Stewart. Virtual event will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00pm via Zoom and is open to all members of the public.  Session will cover the history of lynching, how we can find restorative justice, and how lynching is still a relevant topic today. During the Jim Crow era nothing sustained racial inequality quite like lynching. We, as a society, must confront this history. Taylor Stewart graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in Communication and is currently in the Master of Social Work program at Portland State University. He founded the Oregon Remembrance Project and has been working to memorialize Oregon’s only recorded victim of lynching, Alonzo Tucker, who was killed in Coos Bay.
