CHM Local History Class: “Lives of our Days”, Dec. 9

The Coos History Museum will again offer a local history class this winter presented by local historian and museum volunteer, Steven Greif. This year’s class will be held online via Zoom on Monday evenings from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM starting Monday, January 4, 2021 – Monday, March 1, 2021. Registration and more information can be found on our website under the “Education” tab, or go directly to the event calendar: https://cooshistory.org/events/local-history-class/. The class is limited to 100 spaces so sign up early! As a fundraising effort for the museum, there is an admission fee of $50 per space. All are welcome, but Coos History Museum members will be offered a free “members-only” bonus class that will be presented on Monday, March 8th at 6:30 PM. The 2021 class, called “Lives of Our Days”, will focus on not-so-famous people who once lived on Oregon’s South Coast. Their “ordinary” lives present a glimpse into the past of our local communities to give us fun examples of how times have changed. Each show will also include a contest called “The Fame Name Game” where a more “famous” local historical person will be described and class members will compete for prizes. Established in 1891, The Coos County Historical Society is an Oregon 501(c)3 not for profit organization and the 2nd oldest historical society in the State. Funding during the COVID-19 For more information about the Society and the Coos History Museum, visit cooshistory.org or email info@cooshistory.org.
