Vaccines are Being Given in Coos County, Jan. 7

CHW release – Coos County is very pleased to announce the first 1000 vaccines have been given to medical and emergency personnel in our communities. This is Phase 1A where we are offering vaccinations to both paid and unpaid people serving in healthcare settings who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials and are unable to work from home. While we are working very quickly, it is important to understand that it will still take considerable time to get the vaccines out to everyone in our community. As we continue work to make vaccines widely available, the fastest way to get our schools, businesses and communities back open is to keep working together. We are going to have to continue to use the methods we know stop the spread of this disease: wear a face covering, limit group size, keep distance, wash hands and stay home when sick. How do I know when it’s my turn? • When it is time to get vaccines out to the community, most people will receive the vaccine from their doctors or through a pharmacy. Those without insurance will be able to get vaccines through local community clinics or drive up clinics hosted by community partnerships. • Vaccines will be no cost.
• Coos Health & Wellness, as well as local doctors, hospitals and clinics will work very hard to let everyone know when it is their turn for the vaccine. Please see our COVID-19 webpage for additional information: https://cooshealthandwellness.org/public-health/novel-coronavirus-2019-covid-19/
