Prep Sports, Feb. 8

Another “Decision-Date” is upon the executive board of the Oregon Schools Activities Association as it meets in Wilsonville Monday morning, 9 a.m., to discuss prep sports. Monday, Feb. 8th, is the date the OSAA set late last year for membership schools to start practicing football, volleyball, cross county & soccer leading into competitive games in the month of March. However, COVID-19 continues in the State and health officials have not cleared certain sports. Top of the list is Football. Volleyball is on the cuff, while Cross County and Soccer are slated to start practices Feb. 22nd. The OSAA is working with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) for direction in proceeding. Some of the options on the table for the executive board to consider include 7-on-7 football instead of tackle, and outdoor volleyball or move it to a later date.
