As expected, the Executive Board of the Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) gave the “green light” for its member schools to begin practice for soccer and cross country as of Feb. 22nd. Competition will begin in March. Volleyball and football are a different story. Prep volleyball players can also start practice on Feb. 22, if their county is deemed outside of “Extreme Risk” as described by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). Outdoor volleyball is another option. Full 11-on-11 football did not get approved. However, the OSAA will also wait for a final determination based on state health guidelines. Seven-on-seven football will be allowed with special challenges for linemen not able to play in the 7-on-7 Passing Game. The Executive Board will reconvene on Feb. 17th, in Wilsonville, to make a final determination on the culminating weeks (after the season) for soccer, cross country, volleyball & football.
