Crashed into Coastal House, Feb. 19

On February 18, 2021, at approximately 3:29 am, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Rose was dispatched to a reported crash near the 5000 block of NE East Devils Lake Rd, Otis. It was reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a house near the location. Members of the Lincoln City Police Department, North Lincoln Fire/Rescue and Pacific West Ambulance also responded to the crash. It was reported that the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Andrew D. Ainslie, 30 years old, of Lincoln City, had initially fled the scene of the crash on foot. Lincoln City Police Officers were able to locate Mr. Ainslie and detain him near the location of the crash. The residents of the struck home were not injured as a result from the crash. Mr. Ainslie’s vehicle was later towed from the location. Mr. Ainslie was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital by Pacific West Ambulance. Deputy Rose determined through his investigation that at the time of the crash, Mr. Ainslie was under the influence of a controlled substance while operating his motor vehicle. Mr. Ainslie did not sustain injuries from the crash. Deputy Rose issued Mr. Ainslie criminal citations for Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Reckless Driving, Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver (Property Damage) and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.
