SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon Board of Forestry will hold a special meeting on May 20, 2021. The meeting will be held virtually and will be live streamed on the Oregon Department of Forestry’s YouTube channel. The board will meet in Executive Session starting at 9:05 a.m. for the purpose of considering information or records that are exempt from disclosure by law, pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(f). The board will exit Executive Session to discuss the appointment of an interim State Forester and initiation of a recruitment plan for the permanent hiring. There will not be an opportunity for public comment during the meeting; however written testimony can be emailed to BoardofForestry@oregon.gov before or after the meeting. The Oregon Board of Forestry consists of seven citizens nominated by the Governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate. Responsibilities include appointing the State Forester, setting management direction for state-owned forests, adopting rules governing timber harvest and other practices on private forestland, and promoting sustainable management of Oregon’s 30 million-acre forestland base.
