Marshfield’s boys opened District 4 prep basketball play with a 62-38 win over visiting Cottage Grove Tuesday at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay. The Pirates (1-0, 2-1) are scheduled to play at Siuslaw Thursday. In other District 4 games, Siuslaw lost at Marist Catholic 79-48, and Junction City won at home over Elmira 60-14. North Bend boys lost at Bandon 43-26. The Bulldogs (0-3) are scheduled to host Myrtle Pt. Friday.
