Pedestrian Struggles with Deputies, July 5

On 07/01/21 at approximately 9:58am Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to what was initially reported as a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the 400blk of Hunsaker Ln. in Eugene. The caller reported that a male intentionally dove head first into the hood of her vehicle. Fire personnel were first to arrive on scene at which time they reported that the pedestrian fled on foot towards River Rd. When deputies arrived they located the injured male in the middle of River Rd. The male had what appeared to be a severe head injury. When deputies contacted the male in attempt to render aid to him, the male became combative and began fighting with the deputies. After a physical struggle the male was detained and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries remain unknown at this time. One deputy received minor injuries while trying to subdue the male.
