OSAA fb, Dec. 30

The Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) is considering a re-vamp of 2A & 1A prep football for next season. Currently, some schools play six-man, non-sanctioned football, while others play eight-man and eleven-man. An Ad Hoc Committee has proposed putting the 2A and 1A schools that play football into three divisions, a 9-man football Division 1, made up of mostly 2A schools, a 9-man Division 2 made up of mostly smaller 2A and bigger 1A school. Also, a 6-man classification for the smaller 1A schools. Under that proposal, Bandon, Gold Beach and Reedsport would be in Division 1, while Myrtle Point is in Division 2. Powers, Elkton and Camas Valley would be in the 6-player Division. The next meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee is Jan. 5.
