A Hiking Opportunity–Sunset Bay to Cape Arago, Feb. 2

South Coast Striders release – The Friends of The Umpqua Hiking Club is hiking from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago this Saturday (February 5). They have invited interested South Coast Striders to join them. From the Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club: February 5 – Sunset Bay to Cape Arago; Distance: 8.3; Moderate. Details: The hike from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago (and back) is a perennial favorite of the club, and with good reason, too. The coastal scenery is world class here and has the tourists to prove it. From jagged coast, belching sea lions, a World War II bunker, and plenty of quality forest time, this hike has it all. Map of hike: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2498288509 If you are interested in this hike, let us know by filling out a form. This isn’t a South Coast Strider hike, but we’ve been invited to participate. It would help their planning if we give them an estimate of attendees. The Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club members will be leaving Roseburg at 8:00, and expect to be at the trailhead at about 10:15. If you’re joining us, be at the Sunset Bay Day Use Area (Near the volleyball courts) before 10:15. Note: Because this hike is an ‘out and back,’ the distance can easily be shortened. That might be of interest for hikers who are local.
