Marshfield’s girls dropped out of a tie for second place in the 4A District 4 prep basketball race with a 43-23 loss at Marist Catholic in Eugene Tuesday. The Lady Pirates (2-2, 12-6) fall to third and the Spartans (3-1, 10-5) have sole possession of second place behind league leader Junction City (5-0, 15-4). North Bend’s girls fell to visiting Springfield Tuesday. The girls (3-5, 9-8) lost 40-16. The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Ashland Friday and play at Churchill Saturday in Eugene.
