UPDATE: Monday afternoon Grinstead was located at a residence in the Roseburg area by Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Facility. We are very thankful for our partnership with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the instrumental role that they played in this case. Original release – Investigators have identified the suspect in Saturday’s shooting as 16 year old Elijah James Grinstead. Grinstead is alleged to have intentionally shot and wounded another juvenile known to him at a residence in the 2400blk of Marjorie Ave. on Saturday. An extensive search was conducted by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Eugene Police Department, and Oregon State Police following the shooting, however Grinstead was not located. Grinstead is described as a white male with long brown hair, brown eyes, a slender builder and about 5’06” in height. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, beanie hat and jeans. He has ties to the Roseburg area but is also known to frequent north Eugene. There are no known vehicles associated with him at this time. The weapon used in this case is still outstanding.
