ODFW seeks new members for Commercial Fisheries Permit Board, April 4

ODFW release – SALEM, Ore.—ODFW is seeking 19 new members to represent commercial fishing interests on the Commercial Fisheries Permit Review Board (CFPB). Persons interested should apply by April 25, 2022 using the Commercial Fishery Permit Board Application (see under Misc. for the form). The CFPB evaluates commercial fishery permit denials and commercial fishery permit transfers for the following fisheries: sea urchin; roe herring; Columbia River gillnet salmon; ocean troll salmon; ocean pink shrimp/scallop; ocean Dungeness crab; sardine; bay clam dive; brine shrimp; black and blue rockfish; and nearshore fisheries. Potential candidates must hold a valid commercial fishing permit for the fishery they would like to represent. The positions open are as follows: 3 clam dive; 3 roe-herring; 3 ocean pink shrimp; 3 sardine; 2 Columbia River gillnet salmon; 2 ocean Dungeness Crab; 1 black rockfish/blue rockfish; 1 ocean troll salmon; 1 sea urchin. The CFPB is made up of three commercial fishers representing each fishery plus two at-large members of the public. Terms are three years, and board members may serve up to two terms. Members of the board receive no compensation for their service but will be reimbursed for travel and other expenses incurred in the performance of official duties. Applicants must be willing to travel to coast locations and to Salem, although virtual conference calls are used in many cases to reduce travel.
