Marshfield’s baseball team downed visiting Junction City 5-1, 3-2 in a pair of 4A District 4 league games at MHS Friday. The Pirates (4-2, 8-7) are in second place behind Marist Catholic (5-0, 9-5).

Marshfield’s softball team swept a pair of 4A District 4 league games from visiting Junction City 8-2 & 19-4 (4) Friday at the ESD Field in Coos Bay. The Lady Pirates (4-2, 8-8) move into second place in the league trailing Marist Catholic (5-0, 12-1). Marshfield is scheduled to host Siuslaw Tuesday, 5 p.m.

Siuslaw’s boys and North Bend’s girls won the Central Coast Invitational Track Meet at Florence Friday. The Viking boys tallied 182-points to North Bend’s 132 and Marshfield’s 121. The Lady Bulldogs scored 127-points to Marshfield’s 90 and Central Linn’s 61. Eleven teams competed in the annual event hosted by Siuslaw. Individually, North Bend boys showed their speed on the track. Sophomore Jason Padgett won the 100 (11.42) & the 200 (23.23). Senior John Efraimson won the 400 (51.62) and teamed up with Padgett to run legs on the winning 4X100 (44.68) & 4X400 (3:38.49) relay teams. Juniors Brody Justice & Nathaniel Folsom were members of the short relay, while sophomore Andrew Efraimson joined Folsom on the long relay. Also for the Bulldogs, junior Keegan Young won the Javelin (154-3). For the North Bend girls, sophomore Lennon Riddle took the 100 (14.19) and ran a leg on the winning 4X400 Relay (4:33.90) team along with sophomore Ayla Riddle, junior Sara Slade & senior Keia Morris. Freshman Kaylianna Mazzucchi won the Javelin (95-4), sophomore Roxy Day took the Pole Vault (9-0) and was second in the Triple Jump (29-1.25). For Marshfield’s boys, senior Cael Church took second in the 400 (53.16), senior Jacob Calvert won the 1500 (4:32.21), and senior Matthew Allen won the Discus (127-7). For the Lady Pirates, sophomore Daphne Scriven swept the Shot Put (31-4.5) & Discus (107-8), senior Hannah Folau was second in the Javelin (93-5) with junior Kate Miles third (90-10), freshman Keira Crawford won the High Jump 4-10, and freshman Alie Clarke second in the Long Jump (14-7.5). North Bend is at Springfield Wednesday. Marshfield is at Junction City Saturday.

Oregon Relays
Some of Marshfield’s track athletes competed in the Oregon Relays at the New Hayward Field. Junior Trent Summers was second in the Pole Vault (4.70m/15-5) to Landon Helms, of Emmett (5.05m/16-6.75). Sophomore Jonathon Parks was fifth (4.55m/14-11.25) and sophomore Danner Wilson 16th (4.10m/13-5.5). Junior Alexander Garcia-Silver was 21st in the 3,000 (8:40.95).

Meet of Champions
Marshfield took two track athletes to the Meet of Champions at Sweet Home Saturday. Senior Charlie Dea was 13th in the 100 (13.74) & fifth in the 300H (51.30). Senior Baily Wallack was fourth in the 200 (27.87) & second in the 400 (1:02.87).
