NEWPORT, Ore – ODFW is holding a virtual public meeting to discuss the commercial market squid fishery on Friday, June 3 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. ODFW will discuss the current fishery, monitoring results, and management measures adopted in February by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife. The Commission also directed ODFW to develop a proposal to prohibit use of independent light boats prior to the start of the 2023 fishery. Industry and public input are needed on these and other topics such as gear conflicts, bycatch of other species, and squid harvest sustainability.
