OSU release – CORVALLIS – An enhanced fan experience is coming to Oregon State University’s Kelly Field with the debut of a new video board in spring 2023. The 15HD video display will be approximately 21 feet by 38 feet, and will be located in right-center field. The board, which will feature the same quality of display as the one currently in place at Goss Stadium, will have the ability to show high definition video content, including replays, as well as images. The display will be complete with Oregon State and Kelly Field branding above and below the board itself. “The addition of a video board at our softball facility is an important next step in enhancing the gameday experience for the program,” said Scott Barnes, vice president and director of OSU Athletics. “The improvements to Kelly Field over the last few years have benefited our fans and student-athletes in a significant way, and this project continues that progression as we work to create one of the best environments for softball in the nation.” The video board was made possible by a small number of committed donors who made gifts through the OSU Foundation. The lead gift was provided by Jack and Kelly Berka, who have been instrumental in upgrading Oregon State softball’s facilities over the last several years. In 2021, “Kelly Field” was named in recognition of the family’s generosity. The Beavers’ video board will be the latest in an impressive line of enhancements to Oregon State’s home facility. In 2019, lights were installed at the complex to allow OSU to play games at night. That year the field was also upgraded to a new turf outfield, highlighted by a Beaver head in center field, complimented by a DuraEdge Collegiate infield making the Oregon State softball field one of the top playing surfaces in the country. A new indoor hitting facility was added prior to the 2021 campaign, giving the Beavers a state-of-the-art space which includes three batting lanes. “We are excited and grateful to add yet another piece to our home facility,” said Oregon State head coach Laura Berg. “Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes and fans, and the addition of a video board will help us do just that. Thank you to the donors who made this possible for their continued support of our program. We can’t wait to see the video board in action next season.” Oregon State had one of the best seasons in program history in 2022, as the Beavers made their second ever trip to the Women’s College World Series and ended the season ranked No. 8 in the nation. OSU finished the campaign with a record of 39-22, in a season that included a 17-game winning streak. The Beavers won seven games against ranked opponents.
