Location: Coos County – Libby Ln, Seven Devils, West Beaver Hill, Hwy 101; Suspect(s): William L. Michael 29 years old. Narrative: On June 30, 2022 at approximately 3:10 p.m. a citizen made a direct report of a report of a reckless driver who had nearly struck a young child to a Patrol Deputy who was conducting stationary patrol on Libby near milepost four. After receiving this information the deputy attempted to catch up to the reported vehicle on Libby Lane headed towards Charleston. The deputy located the vehicle near milepost 2 on Libby Lane and attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle due to the above report and additional traffic violations observed by the deputy. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy and a vehicular pursuit began. The vehicle failed to yield through Charleston, over Seven Devils Road, to West Beaver Hill Lane, and then northbound on Hwy 101. Speeded ranged between 70-90 mph on the county roads and peaked at 110 mph on Hwy 101. The Oregon State Police were able to successful deployed spike strips on Hwy 101 near mile post 247 effectively brining the pursuit to an end. Information obtained during the pursuit indicated the same vehicle was involved in a pursuit in Douglas County the day prior, however they were unable to apprehend the suspect at that time. The driver of the vehicle who was identified as 29 year old William L. Michael was taken into custody on several outstanding warrants for his arrest and additional charges of elude by vehicle, reckless driving, and reckless endangering X 8. Two other occupants of the vehicle were released from the scene. One of them was cited in lieu of custody on outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
