NBPL release – On Friday, July 15 at 6 pm, the North Bend Public Library’s summer reading program goes to Simpson Park for a fireside ranger talk. Oregon State Park Ranger Kristin Hovenkotter-Greco will present “Meet the Mysterious and Magnificent Mountain Lion.” Attendees will learn the habits and habitat of the mountain lion as well as signs to watch for that indicate a mountain lion may be nearby. 2022 marks the one hundredth anniversary of the Oregon State Park system, and therefore NBPL is highlighting the parks and the service of the rangers, which include interpretive talks on park history, fire safety, and local wildlife. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and/or blankets to sit on, as well as bug spray. This talk is part of NBPL’s adult summer reading program, “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” Attendance at library programs earns points for those playing the summer reading game. More information about the summer reading game will be available on the library website.
