With new quarterback Geno Smith under center, the Seattle Seahawks lost their NFL preseason opener Saturday at Pittsburgh 32-25. Former Oregon QB Justin Herbert’s team the LA Chargers lost to the LA Rams 29-22, but another former Duck signal-caller, Marcus Mariota, now with Atlanta, got a 27-23 win at the Detroit Lions Friday. Mariota was 2-2 for 36-yards and ran three times for 23 yards and a touchdown. Herbert didn’t play against the Rams.
