Crater Twilight Run
Marshfield senior Alexander Garcia Silver placed second at the Crater Twilight 5K on the track Thursday at Central Point in Southern Oregon. Crater’s Tyrone Gorze won in 14:11.38 while Garcia Silver finished in 14:40.23. Marshfield also ran sophomore Bodey Lutes who finished 21st overall in 16:56.69.

Both Bay Area prep cross-country teams are scheduled to run Saturday at the Country Fair Classic at Veneta.

North Bend’s soccer teams got a split on the road in 4A District 4 play Thursday. The Bulldog girls (3-2-2, 5-5-2) won 3-0, but the North Bend boys (0-7, 1-10-1) fell 6-0. North Bend is scheduled to end the regular season, Thursday, Oct. 20, at Marshfield.

Marshfield (3-0, 5-1) and Henley (3-0, 6-0) meet in a 4A Big Sky League football game Friday night, 7p, at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay. North Bend (1-2, 2-4) travels to Murphy, (1-3, 2-4) south of Grants Pass, to play Hidden Valley, 7p. Both games will be broadcast live on local radio, Pirates on FM 105.1 KMHS (streamed at www.kmhsonline.com), and Bulldogs on K-Light FM 98.7.

Both North Bend and Marshfield will compete Saturday in the Marshfield Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay. Pool play begins at 8 a.m. Sixteen teams are competing.
