Marist Catholic (5-3, 11-6) swept North Bend 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) to clinch second place behind district champion Marshfield (8-0, 19-3) in the 4A District 4 volleyball race. North Bend (5-3, 11-9) finishes third.
MHS vb
Marshfield (19-3) has added a volleyball match against the Gaston Greyhounds Tuesday, 5:30p, at Cottage Grove HS. Gaston (18-2) is the No. 2 rated team in 2A.

North Bend’s girls defeated Marshfield 3-0 in a 4A District 4 prep soccer match at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay, Thursday. With the win, the Bulldogs (4-2-2, 6-5-2) finish second in league to champion Marist Catholic (8-0, 13-1) and Marshfield (4-3-1, 6-5-2) is third. No score on the boy’s match.
Skyline vb
The 1A Skyline Conference will hold its end of the regular season volleyball tournament at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay, Saturday, Oct. 22. Doors open at 10 a.m. According to the OSAA league standings, North Douglas and Umpqua Valley ended the regular season tied each with 11-1 records. Days Ck. third at 11-2, followed by Powers 9-5, and Myrtle Pt. 8-4.

Both Marshfield and North Bend are home Friday for Big Sky Conference football games. The Pirates host Hidden Valley at Pete Susick Stadium, while the Bulldogs host Ashland at Vic Adams Field. Kickoff is set for 7p for both games. Marshfield’s JV team will play HV’s jayvee team at 3:30p.

Marshfield (5-2) is No. 8 in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Prep Football Poll. Mazama (7-0) is No. 1, followed by Estacada (6-1), Henley (7-0), Pendleton/Nixyaawii (6-1), Marist Catholic (6-1), Scappoose (6-1) & La Grande (5-2) at No. 7. Mazama and Henley play each other Friday night at Henley.
