It was quite a team battle for the 4A District 4 Boys’ Cross Country Championships at Lane Community College, Eugene, Thursday. Cottage Grove won with 38-points, while Marshfield and Marist following in second and third, both scoring 43-points. North Bend was fourth (102) followed by Junction City (143). The top three teams qualify for the State Championships Nov. 5 at LCC. Marshfield’s Alexander Garcia Silver won the individual 5K race in 15:11.40. Cottage Grove senior Jaden Owens was second at 16:28.50. North Bend senior Aidin Wilson led the Bulldogs boys finishing 12th (18:19.47). Junction City won the girls team race with 32-points, Cottage Grove second (54), followed by North Bend (59) and Marist Catholic (83). Senior Avery Hedden, of Marist Catholic, was the individual winner of the 5K race in 20:21.06. North Bend senior Sara Slade was fourth (21:31.74) and Marshfield freshman Riley Mullanix was 17th (23:37.82).
